Support...
It's in our name so that should tell you how much weight we put on this. On many pages in Arizona Autism Support you have seen us
mention the need to seek out "others that have been there" We can not stress how important we feel this is while traveling autism's
many roads.
Involvement...
We understand that life is sometimes upside down, even for those without special needs in their families. We also know the benefits
that involvement in a community that you are a part of add to ones life. Most people yearn to be around others that can relate, be it
with friends, church, neighborhoods, likeminded hobbiests and charitable causes.
Enrichment...
Having coffee with another person in the autism community just to vent or share ideas keeps our minds open and fresh and can give us
a renewed sense of energy. Attending workshops geared to equip us with tools that help us along the way gives us a sense of "I'm
doing something" Joining a charitable event by participating in a golf tournament or helping organize a walk for autism completes the
circle of what community means

| AP GROUPS AP stands for Autism Parents. AP groups are informal gatherings of family members with a loved one diagnosed with autism. Many of the AP groups listed here are coordinated by Arizona Autism Support Mentors. Arizona Autism Support has also collaborated with several existing support groups in Arizona to list in our AP Group resource list. The goal of AP groups is to give families an opportunity to meet up with others who "get it" without having to drive more then 20 minutes from their home. |
